2020 Shooting World Cup: Up to Olympic Committee to decide on visa for Pakistan shooters

National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) President Raninder Singh revealed that the decision to approve visa for Pakistan shooters to participate in shooting World Cup in 2020 is to be taken by the government or by the Olympic Committee.

New Delhi, Feb 21 : National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) President Raninder Singh revealed that the decision to approve visa for Pakistan shooters to participate in shooting World Cup in 2020 is to be taken by the government or by the Olympic Committee.

“It is not in our hands to stop the visa process. It is for government and Olympic Committe to decide. We’re waiting for the decision,” singh said on Pakistan shooter visa approval for participation in the Shooting World Cup in Delhi.

The Pakistan Shooting federation has asked international body (ISSF) to withhold the Olympic quotas on offer at the event they were supposed to participate in.

“Pakistan has written to the ISSF. They are requesting us to not distribute Olympic quota places in the rapid fire pistol where the Pakistan athletes were supposed to take part. (They are requesting) to distribute the quotas from the next World Cup in Beijing,” ISSF secretary general Alexander Ratner said on Wednesday.

As the tensions between India and Pakistan escalated following the Pulwama terror attack in which 40 CRPF soldiers lost their lives,there has been a growing clamour for the Indian players including cricket team to boycott its match against Pakistan
