Blogger killed in Pakistan for criticising ISI

Islamabad, June 17: Muhammad Bilal Khan, a 22-year-old Pakistani blogger and freelance journalist, who criticised Pakistani military and the country’s spy agency – the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), was hacked to death in Islamabad on Sunday night.

Khan was with his uncle in the G-9/4 area of Islamabad where he was stabbed by an unidentified assailant after being taken to a nearby forest area, the police confirmed Monday morning.

Khan had a significant online presence with 16,000 followers on the micro-blogging platform Twitter, 48,000 subscribers on his Youtube channel and 22,000 on Facebook.

On Sunday night, he received a phone call directing him to go from Bara Kahu area to the G-9 area in the Pakistani capital, where a man took him to the forest, as per a police official told Pakistan-based newspaper the Dawn.
