Ebrahim Raisi Wins 13th Presidential Election In Iran

Sayyid Ebrahim Raisol-Sadati, commonly known as Ebrahim Raisi, is an Iranian conservative and principlist politician, Muslim jurist, Chief Justice of Iran, and President-elect of Iran, having been elected in the 2021 Iranian presidential election.

Tehran, June 19 : Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi has won the 13th presidential election in Iran, following which Iranian President Hassan Rouhani congratulated the President-elect.

Rouhani and Raisi had a meeting on Saturday, with the two sides discussing various issues, IRNA reported.

President Rouhani expressed hope that with President-elect’s efforts and more cooperation of all forces in the country, Iran will witness effective measures for the development and prosperity of the country, as well as the peace and prosperity of Iranians.

Earlier, Iran’s Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and candidates for the presidency also congratulated Raisi on his election.

Iran’s presidential election was held nationwide and in 133 countries on June 18, the Iranian official agency reported. Over 59 million Iranians were eligible to vote.

According to the local media, Raisi’s three rivals in the poll fray had conceded even before counting of votes was completed.

Pakistani PM Imran Khan too tweeted his congratulations to Raisi, who is the head of the judiciary and a hard-line follower and protege of supreme Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
