Iran retaliates, declares US a “terrorist government” and CENTCOM as terrorist group

After President Donald Trump designated Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization, Iran responded by officially declaring the US a “terrorist government”and termed the US CENTCOM a terrorist group as well.

Tehran, April 9 : After President Donald Trump designated Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization, Iran responded by officially declaring the US a “terrorist government”and termed the US CENTCOM a terrorist group as well.

Tehran declared the US “a terrorist government and the US Central Command known as CENTCOM as well as all its affiliates a terrorist group,” a statement of the Islamic Republic’s Supreme National Security Council headed by President Hassan Rouhani said.

Condemning the move, Iranian Security Council  has termed the US decision as “an illegal and dangerous action” that poses a “major threat to the regional and international peace and security as well as grossly violates the rules of international law.

“CENTCOM as well as all its affiliates a terrorist group, which is responsible for harming Iran’s national security as well as ruining the lives of “innocent Iranian and non-Iranian individuals” to promote the US’ “aggressive policies” in Western Asia,” a statement of the Islamic Republic’s Supreme National Security Council headed by President Hassan Rouhani said.

Iran’s top diplomat Mohammad Javad Zarif tweeted, “A(nother) misguided election-eve gift to Netanyahu. A(nother) dangerous U.S. misadventure in the region.”

He urged President Hassan Rouhani to place US forces in the region on Tehran’s list of “terrorist” groups, the foreign ministry said.
