Iran seizes another tanker ‘carrying smuggled fuel’ from Persian Gulf

Tehran, AUG 4: The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has seized another foreign oil tanker carrying around 700,000 litres of smuggled fuel in the Gulf.

“The IRGC’s naval forces have seized this ship around Farsi Island which was carrying around 700,000 litres of fuel smuggling for some Arab countries”, said a Guards statement quoted by the official news agency IRNA and the semi-official Fars news agency reported on Sunday.

“Seven crew members onboard the tanker were detained on Wednesday.

Tensions between US and Iran have escalated after recent developments as  earlier, Iran  seized a British-flagged tanker in the Strait of Hormuz for alleged marine violations.

 United States withdrew from a landmark nuclear deal between Iran and world powers and reimposed economic sanctions against the country.
