Jan 5: Embarrassing Modi government for the  education framework in India, Andhra University Vice-Chancellor G Nageshwar Rao questioned the Darwin’s ‘Theory of Evolution’ and said it is better Lord Vishnu’s Dashavatar explained it better , while claiming that the idea of test-tube babies was conceptualised during Mahabharata .

Rao said,“Dashavatras start with ‘Matsya avatar’, a marine animal, followed by ‘Kurma avatar’, an amphibian. The third avatar is a ‘Varaha avatar’ in which Vishnu takes the form of a boar to save the earth. The fourth is ‘Narismha’, a half-lion and half-human form. The fifth incarnation is ‘Vaman’, the dwarf.”

AFter debunking Darwin’s ‘Theory of Evolution’,V-C also brought in references from epics such as Ramayana and Mahabharata and said that the two epics are not parts of Hindu mythology but a part of history. “Science is not new to Indian culture… Those people who lived then practised science.”

“We’ve studied Ramayana & Mahabharata. How can a woman (Gandhari) give birth to 100 children in her lifetime? This happened because the egg was fertilised, then divided into parts & grown, just like test tube babies,” he said.

“The birth of Kauravas is due to stem cell research and test tube technology. Mahabharata and Ramayana is history, not mythology. The people who lived then practised science. Science is not new to Indian culture,” he added.
