Modi claims Citizenship Amendment Bill as historic

New Delhi, Dec 11: Union Minister Prahlad Joshi said on Wednesday that Prime Minister Narendtra Modi termed Citizenship Amendment Bill as historic and it will be written in golden letters.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah moved the bill in the Lok Sabha and in Rahya Sabha . Amit Shah claimed that people belonging to any religion should not have any fear under the Modi government as he asserted that the bill will give relief to those minorities who have been living a painful life after facing persecution in neighbouring countries.

But the truth is BJP is laying the foundation for Hindu Rashtra on the lines of Israel with this Bill

PM Modi in BJP Parliamentary party meeting said that some Opposition parties are speaking the same language as Pakistan on the Citizenship Amendment Bill.

After attending the party parliamentary meet, parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi said, ” PM Modi said Citizenship Amendment Bill is a historic bill that will be written in golden letters for people who are persecuted on basis of religion .”

The Bill be tabled in Rajya Sabha at 12 pm today, and it will be passed in the house with comfortable majority

He further said, ” PM has asked all MPs to take suggestions of farmers, traders and businessmen in their respective constituencies and give that feedback to Finance Minister.”

he Lok Sabha passed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, which seeks to provide Indian citizenship to non-Muslim refugees coming from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan after facing religious persecution there, a little past midnight on Monday after a heated debate that lasted over seven hours.

The Bill, which was passed in the Lok Sabha with 311 members favouring it and 80 voting against it, will now be tabled in the Rajya Sabha for its nod. According to the proposed legislation, members of Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi and Christian communities, who have come from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, till December 31, 2014 facing religious persecution there, will not be treated as illegal immigrants but given Indian citizenship.

In opposition

The Congress, Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, Assam-based All India United Democratic Front, Nationalist Congress Party, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), Telangana Rashtra Samithi, Bahujan Samaj Party, Aam Aadmi Party, Sikkim Krantikari Morcha, Communist Party of India (Marxist) opposed the Bill.
