Netanyahu Jordan valley annexation plan

Jerusalem, Sep 12: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that if re-elected, he will extend Israel’s sovereignty over all settlements in Judea and Samaria, starting with the Jordan Valley- a move if executed and implemented would be a major setback to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Netanyahu , who is known for making dramatic announcements, revealed that the plan had been coordinated with the US President Donald Trump.

Pointing to a map of the Jordan Valley, he said Israel will annex Jordan Valley and Northern Dead Sea, the first thing to do immediately after the elecion. He said he would look to apply country’s sovereignty over all West Bank settlements, showing blue shaded area in the map he described would constitute “Israek’s eastern border” with Jordan.

The Jordan Valley runs along the east edge of the West Bank, the Palestinian-populated area taken by Israel in the 1967 war, marking its boundary with neighboring Jordan. It contains both Palestinian population centers, like the city of Jericho, and a number of Israeli settlements.

He revealed that Trump intends to announce his Middle East peace plan soon after the September 17 election, adding that he would wait with his annexation plan until after Trump’s “Deal of the Century” is revealed.

Urging people to vote for him in the coming elections and displaying himself as a capable leader compared to Blue and White leaders Benny Gantz and Yair Lapid. Netanyahu said ,“I will not do anything without getting a clear mandate from the public, and so the citizens of Israel, I ask you for a clear mandate to do this.”

He delivered his statement at Ramat Gan’s Kfar Maccabiah Hotel.

“There is a unique and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to do something with broad consensus and bring safe permanent borders to the State of Israel. This will ensure that Judea and Samaria do not become Gaza, and that Kfar Saba, Netanya and Tel Aviv will not become like communities along the border of Gaza.”

Netanyahu elaborated further that the planning is the result of his past diplomatic efforts with US Defense Secretary Mark Esper and US Vice President Mike Pence.
