No force can shake China: Xi’s message to US

Beijing, Oct 1: Declaring that “no force” can shake the Chinese nation, President Xi Jinping said as he oversaw military celebration of 70 years of Communist Party rule.

China showcased its 70th national day celebrations with an extravagant show of military power in Beijing. Standing on the Tiananmen Rostrum where Chairman Mao Zedong proclaimed the People’s Republic of China on October 1, 1949, Xi extolled the “Chinese dream” of national rejuvenation — his grand vision of restoring the country to perceived past glory.

“There is no force that can shake the foundation of this great nation,”No force that can stop the Chinese people and the Chinese nation forging ahead,”xi said, wearing a “Mao suit”.

He then took open-roof car to review troops. Show casing new hypersonic ballistic nuclear missile believed to be capable of striking the US within 30 minutes and breaching all existing anti-missile shields deployed by the United States and its allies.

The vehicle-mounted DF-17 was among weapons displayed in a large military parade led by President Xi Jinping to mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Around 15,000 soldiers, tanks and high-tech weapons were displayed.

Themed “Jointly Fulfilling the Chinese Dream,” the mass pageantry consisted of three chapters: Founding and Construction of the People’s Republic, Reform and Opening-up, and Great Rejuvenation.

A total of 100,000 people and 70 floats in 36 formations joined the mass pageantry.

A symbolic 70-gun salute was fired at the square and the red national flag was raised to begin festivities.

Xi vowed to continue to “fully and faithfully implement” the one country, two systems policy under which Hong Kongers enjoy freedoms unseen on the mainland.
