Seoul, Dec 14 North Korea said on Saturday that it has carried out “another crucial test” at its satellite launch site and the results would be used to strengthen its “reliable strategic nuclear deterrent”.

The unspecified test took place from 10.41 p.m. to 10.48 p.m. on Friday at the Sohae Satellite Launching Ground, better known as the Dongchang-ri site, North’s official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said.

It did not say what was tested.

“The research successes being registered by us in defence science one after another recently will be applied to further bolstering up the reliable strategic nuclear deterrent,” the KCNA said.

Friday’s test came after the North conducted what it called “a very important test” at the satellite launch site on December 7, sparking concern that the communist nation could be preparing to launch a long-range rocket.

After US President revived the threat of military force against Pyongyang on Dec. 3 during the NATO summit in Britain, North Korea’s army chief said he was disappointed by Donald Trump’s statement and warned that any strike would meet a quick response.

Trump statement came after Korea said it was preparing a chritmas gift for the US if the admintration failed to meet its demands by year end.
Pak Jong Chon, chief of the General Staff of the Korean People’s Army said, “I heard that the U.S. president made undesirable remarks about the DPRK on Dec. 3 during the NATO summit in Britain. The Supreme Commander of our armed forces was also displeased to hear it.
The DPRK and the U.S. are still technically at war and the state of truce can turn into an all-out armed conflict any moment even by any accidental case”, state media reported on Wednesday.

I think the only guarantee that deters physical conflict from flaring up in relations between the DPRK and the U.S. despite such a dangerous military stand-off is the close relations between the top leaders of the DPRK and the U.S.
