New Delhi , AUg 6 : After a historic decision by the Rajya Sabha on Monday, the Lok Sabha is now debating Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill 2019 to bifurcate the state into two Union Territories and a resolution to revoke the Article 370, and thereafter voting will take place.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Lok Sabha, said, ” Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of Union of India. Kashmir ki seema mein PoK bhi aata hai…Jaan de denge iske liye!(POK comes under the boundary of Kashmir and we will sacrifice our lives for that ).
“Main sadan mein jab jab Jammu and Kashmir rajya bola hoon tab tab Pakistan occupied Kashmir aur Aksai Chin dono iska hissa hain, ye baat hai,” Amit Shah said.
“When I say Jammu and Kashmir, I mean to imply that PoK as well. J&K constitution also says that the state is an integral part of India and this gives us the right to form laws for the state, which includes PoK and Aksai Chin.” Appealing to the House to vote in favour for the Bill, Shah adds, “This bill and resolution will ensure that J&K will remain with India forever.”
Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said, ” S Jaishankar told Mike Pompeo a few days before that Kashmir is a bilateral matter, so don’t interfere in it. Can J&K still be an internal matter? We want to know. Entire Congress party wants to be enlightened by you.”
” You say that it is an internal matter. But it is being monitored since 1948 by the UN, is that an internal matter? We signed Shimla Agreement & Lahore Declaration, what that an internal matter or bilateral?,” he asked.

PDP MP Mir Fayaz has been protesting against the govt order to repeal Article 370, saying that Kashmir has turned into an ‘open air prison’. “When they sent in 10000 troops they said it was to protect people, they never wanted to protect the people of Kashmir…they only wanted our land…it would have been better if their had dropped an atom bomb on us,” he rues.

Detailed planning, top-level secrecy and solid execution by a dedicated team ensured that the repeal of special status to Jammu and Kashmir, which once seemed an impossible task, was achieved smoothly by the Union government in Parliament.
After the clearance of the bill, Jammu and Kashmir will be a Union Territory with a Legislative Assembly like Delhi and have a Lt Governor, while Ladakh will be a Union Territory without a Legislative Assembly, quite like Chandigarh.
Meanwhile, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah were detained late last night with a district magistrate order justifying their detention citing law and order situation in the Valley. Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference leaders Sajjad Lone and Imran Ansari were also detained.
