PM Narendra Modi should explain what is happening in Jammu and Kahsmir as violence erupts, says Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi, Aug 11: As soon as the reports of violence in Jammu and Kashmir emerged , Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to tell the nation in a transparent manner  about what is happening in the state.

“PM should tell the country with full transparency on what is happening in J&K in view of reports of violence,” Gandhi said.

“I was called by the Working Committee just now because between the work that they were doing, to choose the next Congress president, some reports have come, that things in Jammu and Kashmir are going very wrong. There are reports of violence,” Gandhi said.

Rahul Gandhi said “.there are reports of violence, so we stopped our deliberation and we had our presentation on what was going on in Jammu and Kashmir. It is important that the Prime Minister makes it clear what is happening in Union territory of Jammu&Kashmir, and Ladakh. ”

 

Gandhi reiterated that the Congress Working Committee discussion is still going on and he was especially called because a discussion was happening on Jammu and Kashmir.

 

Modi government revoked Jammu and Kashmir’s special status under Article 370 of the constitution and snapped all communications in the Valley and the people of the state are in continuous lockdown .
The government also passed legislation to divide the state into two Union Territories. Phone lines and internet have been down since Monday, with partial easing of the curfew that was imposed to prevent unrest in the Valley.
