Powerful earthquake strikes Pakistan : Several killed, 150 injured

ISLAMABAD, Sep: Fifteen persons were killed and 150 injured is being reported after a 5.8-magnitude strong earthquake rattled Pakistan-administered Kashmir, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Tuesday afternoon creating panic among people in several cities.

Deep cracks erupted on the roads,several houses,buildings and cars were damaged in the earthuake.

The shallow 5.8-magnitude hit 22.3 kilometres north of the city of Jhelum along the boundary separating the agricultural heartland of Punjab province and Pakistani-controlled Kashmir, according to the US Geological Survey.

According to Geo News, tremors were felt in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Sialkot, Murree, Jhelum, Charsadda, Swat, Khyber Agency, Abbottabad, Bajaur, Nowshera, Mansehra, Battagram, Torghar and Kohistan.

Tremors were felt in Delhi-NCR, Chandigarh, Kashmir, parts of Himachal as well as several towns in Pakistan, including Islamabad, Lahore and Khyber Pakhtun region.
