NEW DELHI, Oct 3 : Terror alert has been sounded in the national capital of India after intelligence agencies revealed that about four heavily armed terrorists of the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad have entered Delhi and are planning to carry out an attack during the festival season in retaliation against the government’s decision to end special status to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 and split it into two union territories.
Intelligence sources say a special cell of the Delhi Police received an alert last evening about the presence of the terrorists in the capital.The alert led to searches across Delhi, especially in the more crowded neighbourhoods of Delhi.
Security has been tightened in Delhi and multiple raids are being conducted across Delhi after intel reports suggested that three-four members of the terror outfit had entered the state.
Indian Air Force bases in and around Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab were earlier put on alert after inputs warned of a possible Jaish-e-Mohammed suicide attack on Indian troops.
The security was heightened at air force bases in Amritsar and Pathankot in Punjab and Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir.Navy is also on alert.
